Domino – A Game of Skill and Strategy

Domino is a game of skill and strategy, and it has many variants. It’s often played with a deck of cards, or a set of dominoes. The game is popular with children and adults, and it’s easy to learn, even for those who have never played before. It’s also a good way to relax and socialize with friends.

A domino is a rectangular tile with a printed pattern on both sides. Its identifying mark is an arrangement of spots, called pips, that is similar to those on a die. The pips on the two opposite faces of the domino are usually different, with one side showing a value of zero or blank, and the other showing a number or letters. Each side of a domino is divided visually into squares, and the number of pips on each of these squares determines the value of the domino. A double domino, for example, has a value of six or more.

The earliest known reference to the word domino dates from 1750, though it may have been derived from the earlier sense of the term, which denoted a long hooded cloak worn in conjunction with a mask during carnival season or at a masquerade. The word was adopted by the French shortly thereafter, and the domino piece itself may have been inspired by a priest’s black domino juxtaposed with his white surplice.

Like playing cards, of which they are a variation, dominoes can be used to form patterns, such as grids that reveal pictures when the tiles fall. In addition, players can use them to build 3-D structures such as domino towers and pyramids. Hevesh is a domino expert, and she has several strategies for counting the number of tiles she needs before starting to construct. For example, she weighs the pieces to ensure she has enough of each type, and she plans out the kinds of arrangements she wants to make beforehand.

Aside from being an accomplished athlete, martial artist, and linguist, Domino is an expert in weaponry and possesses an innate ability to influence laws of probability. She is also an accomplished telepath, and her mind-link with Cable allows them to communicate and share a psionic bond. When she discovered that Project Armageddon was still active, she infiltrated the facility and helped halt John Sublime’s Third Species mutant organ harvesting movement. She then joined Xavier’s X-Corporation in Hong Kong and later assisted X-Force as they investigated a murderous feral Grizzly and the other members of the Six Pack. The team later discovered that Domino was the heaviest of the group’s doubles and that she had an older brother, Lazarus, with whom she developed a close relationship. They later helped restructure X-Force when the timeline was merged with Reality-295.
