In order to fix the sport, a serious ideological reckoning must occur at the macro business and industry level, as well as within the minds of horsewomen and men, that prioritizes the welfare of the horses above all else. This would entail an entire restructuring of the business model, encompassing everything from breeding and aftercare to caps on how long a horse can be raced and a shift towards a more natural and equine friendly lifestyle for racehorses.
